I pulled the top of my 440 off in the 64 polara, and gave a trial fitting of the blower and injector setup. The problem is that apparently I have TOO MUCH hood clearance, exactly the opposite of what i thought I would encounter. I thought the blower would be sticking halfway thru the hood, but its all under the hood line. The hood line actually cuts about 1/3 of the way up the injector scoop right in the middle of the butterflies. Not very ideal for airflow. I might actually have to fashion a spacer between the blower and the injector to bring it up clearly in to the airstream. Dont ask me how it all fits under there.I couldnt believe it, actually wondered if something was wrong, like somebody had jerry rigged the motor in and got it too low. And if i use a later K frame that will move the motor back another 1 1/2 inches which will effectively move the hoodline even farther up over the butterflies considering the hood has a slight rise moving rearwards. Nonetheless it looks all incredibly vicious, an 8-71 blower is very big in person, looks like a 440 with a big watermelon sitting on it. gonna have to run a hood scoop over the whole setup, I dont think i have enough self esteem to drive a car down the road with a big shiny thing sticking thru the hood.
