Yes, the 318 does well in circle track racing. I have two original Racer Brown Cams STX-18 ([email protected]") 105LC and X-21 ([email protected]") 106LC Solid profiles (yes, HUGE) that were successfully campaigned by Al Stegburg in the
late '60's & 70's in his 318 Poly.   He was reported to be very competitive
and spun his stock stroke Poly w/Jahn's 12 to 1 pistons at 5200-7200rpm.

A fellow I know used to run a not-too-far-from stock old 360 in dirt track circles. He was usually the only Mopar in the race and he always did quite well. As Gary noted, he had lots of torque to use!

Hum, how about a poly 318 worked for circle track duty? That would be unique.
