One of the brake backing plates is toast on my sixty (plus the brakes on that side have been behaving badly for some time)and I am thinking of setting the original equipment aside and slapping on the front brakes of a 66 (which will be close to free and much less elaborate to adjust). Does anyone know how complicated this would or would not be? I am hoping to leave the spindles and such and just swap from the plates on. Although I could go the whole way if need be. Also does anyone know anything about collector plates in MN. I asked about them at the DMV today and about all they could tell me is that the car should be "driven in a way that is consistent with it's collector car status." Which they were unable to define or explain further. I drive Virgil only in the summer and I don't drive to work. However, I do park the Chivvy altogether and just use Virgil for what little driving I do (shopping, going out, and the occasional trip) from about April through Oct. Would I be fudging the law? and if so has anybody ever gotten a ticket for this?
